2020 Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger is the performance vehicle for any and every driver. With a range of horsepower that starts at an impressive 305 and increases to a whopping 797, there is no shortage of power, no matter which model you drive. It also has a cabin designed for the car lover with plenty of room for friends and family. The 2020 model has a new limited-production 50th Anniversary Edition, and there are new wheel options and paint colors available. Here is a look at the 2020 Challenger.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The long list of trim levels starts with the SXT. This trim has 18-inch alloy wheels and a sport-tuned suspension. The GT adds a performance suspension and a performance hood with a scoop, while the R/T has a performance exhaust and the option for black exterior styling elements. The R/T Scat Pack comes with black brake calipers, an aluminum hood with dual heat extractors, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Bump up to the SRT Hellcat for Brembo brakes, red calipers, and a high-performance exhaust, or to the Hellcat Redeye for more even power.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the SXT and the GT is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 horsepower that works with an 8-speed automatic and comes with rear-wheel drive. A 5.7-liter V-8 for the R/T gets 372 horsepower, and this engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The R/T Scat Pack gets its power from a 6.4-liter V-8 that generates 485 horsepower, and the Hellcat has a 6.2-liter V-8 that will create 717 horsepower. For even more power, the Redeye bumps up the power from the 6.2-liter engine to 797 horsepower.
Performance
Even the Challenger's base engine has more than enough power, but all of the Hemi V-8's deliver quicker acceleration and even give you that deep satisfying roar when you press on the accelerator. The Challenger is one of the top performers in straight-line speed, and it will also provide a smooth and comfortable ride.
Interior
There is room for five people in the Challenger with roomy seats in both rows. Passengers in the back will get more legroom than any other vehicle in the class and you'll find premium materials all around. The base trim has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, the GT adds paddle shifters, and the Hellcat has a flat-bottom steering wheel. Leather upholstery is an available upgrade along with a sunroof, and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel.
The technology in the Challenger starts with a 7-inch touch screen, Uconnect 4 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth. An 8.4-inch touch screen comes in the R/T Scat Pack, and this comes with satellite radio, two extra USB ports, and Uconnect 4C. An 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo system is an available option for most trims.
Safety Features
All the Challenger models have a rearview camera, stability control, and six air bags. Depending on the trim, you can add automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control for the automatic transmission, forward collision warning, automatic windshield wipers, and a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert.
