2020 Ram 3500
The Ram 3500 is one of the most powerful pickup trucks in the heavy-duty segment. The 2020 model sees a few upgrades and changes, including a new Night Edition for the Big Horn and Laramie trims with blacked-out trim elements, some new exterior paint color options for all models, and the Power Wagon's striking black wheels. For 2020, lane keep assist and adaptive steering are now available for all trims, and there is a new auxiliary camera system that will support up to two different cameras. Here is a look at the 2020 Ram 3500.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Ram offers the 3500 in seven different trim levels. The entry-level Tradesman has 17-inch steel wheels, a black mesh grille, and black bumpers. A step up to the Big Horn adds a chrome grill and chrome bumpers, along with 18-inch wheels. The off-road Power Wagon has black fender flares, a black grille designed for off-road driving, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lights, and high-traction tires.
If you drive the Laramie, you'll get chrome mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels, while the Laramie Longhorn has a chrome slat grille, adaptive headlights, and fixed side steps with the option for power-deployable side steps. The top-level Limited comes with 20-inch chrome alloy wheels, power-deployable side steps as standard equipment, and a chrome grille.
Engine (Power)
You can choose between three different powertrains for the Ram 3500. The base is a 6.4-liter V-8 that produces 410 horsepower or the basic diesel that generates 370 horsepower and will get 850 pound-feet of torque. A high-output version of the diesel will get you 400 horsepower and an impressive 1,000 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
When equipped with the high-output diesel engine and the tow package, the Ram 3500 can tow up to 35,100 pounds and handle up to 7,680 pounds of payload. The standard coil springs provide this truck with better-than-average ride quality, and the optional rear air suspension makes it easier to fit trailers.
Interior
The Ram 3500's cabin ranges from basic and functional to luxurious, depending on the model. Moving up through the trim levels adds comfort features such as a power driver's seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel. The Laramie trim and up have heated and ventilated front seats and the Uconnect 8.4 system along with the 12-inch touch-screen display. The Limited also adds navigation, and it comes with aluminum accents in the cabin.
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard in the Ram 3500 along with six air bags, traction control, and stability control. The Tradesman trim and up offer the option for lane-keep assist with adaptive steering. You can also get Ram's forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking and an adaptive cruise control system. The Big Horn adds ParkSense parking sensors for the front and rear along with a parking assist system. The higher trims also offer the option for additional driver aids such as adaptive headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
