Trim Levels
The Challenger comes in seven main trim levels with several sub trims for most models. The major trims include the SXT, GT, R/T, R/T 392, the SRT Hellcat, and the SRT Demon. All the models have the classic bold Challenger look with its wide stance and long hood. The Hellcat and SRT Demon bring the design to a new level with flared fenders and performance details, while hood scoops and optional stripes are an available option depending on the trim. Dodge also offers the Challenger in several bright and bold colors to make it stand out even more.
Engine
The base engine in the Challenger is a 3.6-liter V-6 that delivers 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The R/T gets the 5.7-liter V-8 with 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque if you choose the six-speed manual transmission. The R/T 392 comes with an even more powerful 6.4-liter V-8 with 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The top two models bring even more power. The Hellcat's 6.2-liter V-8 generates 707 horsepower, and the SRT Demon will get 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
No matter which Challenger you choose, it will have more than enough power, and you can even get all-wheel-drive in the GT. While this is a performance vehicle designed for the track, it also offers a smooth and comfortable ride for everyday driving. If you want more power than you know what to do with, the Hellcat and especially the Demon are something to see. The Demon even comes complete with drag radials and a race-ready driver assist for those who dare push it.
Interior
This coupe seats up to five people, and if you're lucky enough to get one of the performance Demon models, it comes only with a driver's seat. The rest have comfortable seating both in the front and back and a spacious cabin with a sleek, minimalist design. For technology, a 7-inch touch screen comes standard along with the Uconnect infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. There are two USB ports and the option to add satellite radio and upgraded stereo. Depending on the trim, you can also upgrade to an 8.4-inch touch screen and the higher-end Uconnect system.
Safety Features
All Challenger models now come standard with a rearview camera, and Dodge offers the option to add several advanced safety systems. The GT has rear parking sensors, and you can add the Technology group for automatic high beams, a forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. There is also an adaptive speed control system available.
