2022 Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass fits in the compact SUV market, offering drivers a small but rugged and capable vehicle. For the 2022 model year, the Compass received some updates. The front end has a new look; there's a revised dashboard design with a new touch screen and an upgraded version of the Uconnect system.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Compass is the Sport. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, and roof rails. Stepping up to the Latitude gets you 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and automatic headlights, while the new Latitude Lux adds 18-inch alloy wheels. Another bump to the Limited adds a black-painted roof, automatic windshield wipers, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The optional High Altitude Package for this trim also adds full LED exterior lighting, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
Among the trims, the Trailhawk is the most off-road-ready model and comes with skid plates, extra ground clearance, an off-road suspension, and tow hooks. Meanwhile, the Latitude Lux trim joins the lineup for 2022 with leather upholstery and all-wheel drive.
Engine (Power)
Power for all Compass models comes from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gas engine. It puts out 177 horsepower and delivers 172 pound-feet of torque. The Sport and Latitude come with front-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option, and the all-wheel drive system comes standard with the rest of the trims.
Performance
The retuned suspension and upgraded steering system improve the driving dynamics for the Compass. It provides a smooth and comfortable ride on the road, but opt for the Trailhawk and take it off-road where it shines. This model has a Rock mode that makes it capable of tackling all types of rough terrain.
Interior
Inside, there's room for five in the Compass. The new design is sleek and modern and includes a new steering wheel and updated dash. The Sport comes with a height-adjustable driver's seat and cloth upholstery, with a faux-leather-wrapped steering wheel in the Latitude, and heated front seats, leather upholstery, and power-adjustable driver's seat in the Latitude Lux. The Limited adds dual-zone automatic climate control and ambient interior lighting.
The 2022 Compass comes standard with the latest generation Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The Sport has an 8.4-inch touch screen, but you'll get a 10.1-inch touch screen in the Latitude Lux and above. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard at every trim level. All Compass models also have satellite radio and USB ports in both rows. Wireless charging is an available option, along with a 115-volt power outlet.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Compass comes with advanced driver aids. These include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors come in the Limited. Jeep offers the Driver Assist Group I and II for the Latitude and Latitude Lux with parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, an automated parking system, and 360-degree camera, and you can get the Driver Assist Group III for the Trailhawk and Limited. This package adds lane-keep assist.
