The Ram 1500 pickup truck is the most comfortable full-size pickup truck you can ride in or drive. This truck offers three different engine options and has a cabin that ranges from basic to luxurious. For the 2023 model year, there's a new Built To Serve EMS limited edition model with design elements to honor first responders, but the rest of the lineup remains mostly the same. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2023 Ram 1500.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Ram 1500 is the Tradesman. It comes with 18-inch steel wheels, black bumpers, heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, and automatic headlights. The Big Horn adds 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome bumpers, body-colored door handles, and fog lights. Choose the Rebel for LED exterior lights, an upgraded suspension to raise the ride height, and all-terrain tires. This trim also has tow hooks, skid plates, and an electronic locking rear axle.
The Laramie has LED headlights and power-folding side mirrors, and the Longhorn adds 20-inch alloy wheels, side steps, and a spray-in bedliner. Step up to the Limited for power-deployable running boards or to the TRX for flared fenders, a functional hood scoop, and a performance exhaust.
Engine (Power)
Ram offers the 1500 with several different powertrains. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 that develops 305 horsepower, but you can step up to a 5.7-liter V-8 that makes 395 horsepower. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel is also available. It generates 260 horsepower and gets 480 pound-feet of torque. A supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 for the TRX churns out 702 horsepower.
Performance
The ride in the 1500 is smooth and comfortable no matter which trim you have. The Rebel is more off-road worthy for 2023 with its new Selec-Speed control, which is a low-speed cruise control. The maximum towing capacity for the Ram 1500 is 12,750 pounds.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to six people in the Ram 1500, and even the backseat passengers have plenty of legroom. This Ram's cabin also has lots of in-cabin storage, including a spot under the rear seats. The entry-level 1500 models have the basics, but you can get power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel in the Laramie and above. These models also have heated and ventilated front seats.
Technology features in the 1500 include an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the Laramie or a 12-inch touchscreen in the Limited and above. These work with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and you'll also get a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, and a nine-speaker stereo system.
Safety Features
The 2023 Ram 1500 comes with a rearview camera, trailer sway damping, and electronic stability control. The Big Horn offers optional packages with added safety equipment, such as rear parking sensors and a security alarm. The Laramie is available with automatic high-beam headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Rebel offers the Advanced Safety Group with adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. If you step up to the Limited, it comes standard with the blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
