Holiday Events in Indianapolis, INDecember in downtown Indianapolis offers festive holiday events nearly every day of the month. Explore some of the hottest offerings in our city this holiday season.

Festive Films

Downtown’s Atheneum Theatre offers a break from the chill with holiday-themed movies on three Mondays in December. Get in the holiday spirit with classic films including “Elf” on Dec. 3, “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Dec. 10, and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on Dec. 17.

Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run

Enjoy a festive morning while raising money for important research at the annual Jingle Bell Run hosted by the Arthritis Foundation. Put on your favorite costume or Santa hat and join in for a 10K run, 5K run/walk, or 1-mile walk on Dec. 8.

After you’ve hoofed it around downtown Indianapolis, check out the fun activities that include a kid’s reindeer run, a costume contest, and more back at the starting point at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Register a team of family, friends, and co-workers for a spirited day of fun while also doing good by raising money for arthritis research.

The Piano Guys — “Christmas Together”

On Dec. 6, you will not want to miss The Piano Guys at downtown’s Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. The four “guys” who make up this eclectic musical ensemble bring their backgrounds in classical instruments to create a unique, one-of-a-kind musical experience.

Hailing from Utah, The Piano Guys became an internet sensation for their music videos showcasing a mashup of classical music with pop music inflection. With over a billion views on YouTube and six studio albums, The Piano Guys push boundaries and reinvent our conceptions of music with bold and groundbreaking arrangements. See their “Christmas Together” show featuring their melodious take on holiday classics.

Lights at the Brickyard

Head over to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a brilliant display of more than 3 million lights on a 2-mile course through the heart of the Speedway’s world-famous oval. Drive your own vehicle through this stunning light show, including a stop at the “Yard of Bricks” start and finish line.

Enjoy a staggering 500 light displays in about 40 holiday-inspired scenes as you drive the course. Stay in your car at a slow 5 mph to take in all of the scenery and roll down your windows to take some snaps. Lights at the Brickyard is open every day of December, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, for a festive, family activity.

Miracle on South Street

Plat 99 at the Alexander Hotel will host the first annual Miracle on South Street, a pop-up holiday cocktail bar with Christmas-themed cocktails in a fun setting. An international phenomenon, Indianapolis’ Miracle pop-up will provide a festive setting to enjoy such holiday cocktails as a Snowball Old-Fashioned.

If the drinks don’t do it, the retro-kitschy decor will get you into the holiday spirit in no time. All drinks are served in specially designed Miracle barware that is available for purchase should you decide to recreate this special experience at home.
