Take the Car and Discover These 4 Best Views Near Greenwood, IN

1. Craig Park

Located within Old Town Greenwood, Craig Park is the city’s largest at 27 acres. With well-maintained grounds that host volleyball and tennis courts, playgrounds, and pavilions, it’s considered one of the local recreational centers. Take the walking trail and you’ll be taken through hilly areas and across bridges that provide good views of the beautiful park and the Old Town area. The ample shade from the trees provides excellent picnic spots.

2. Glenns Valley Nature Park

If you’re looking for some peace and quiet to go with some lovely scenery, Glenns Valley rarely ever gets crowded even on weekends. The park’s trail system features gorgeous, deeply forested areas and often branches into scenic resting areas where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air. It’s also an awesome place to go bird watching with opportunities to see various hawks, woodpeckers, and songbirds.

During the winter season, the park’s slopes become ideal sledding spots, so you’ll definitely want to take the kids and pets along. Afterward, they can cozy up in the luxurious heated leather seats of your Jeep Grand Cherokee!

3. Canal Walk

The Canal Walk runs alongside the Indianapolis Central Canal and serves as the perfect starting point for those wanting to explore the downtown district. In addition to taking the walking path, visitors can navigate through the canal itself by kayaking or renting a paddle boat from Wheel Fun Rentals, located just south of the Indiana Historical Society’s building.

As you head up the canal, you’ll be able to see many notable landmarks, including the 9/11 Memorial, USS Indianapolis Memorial, Eiteljorg Museum, and the Totem sculpture.

4. Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument

One of the most striking sights in Indianapolis, this 284.6-foot obelisk is constructed in the neoclassical style and was dedicated by German architect Bruno Schmitz to Hoosiers who fought during the American Civil War. The iconic figure of Lady Victory sits atop the monument where she maintains her vigil over Monument Circle. Just under her is an observation deck that can be reached by a stairway or elevator.

Once you reach the observation deck, you’ll be greeted with breathtaking views of downtown Indianapolis.
